It is with great pleasure that we announce the MAVTV Spirit of Texas Top Fuel Hydro is your 2014 LODBRS World Champion! After winning five of eight races, the team arrived at the World Finals in Chandler, AZ with a 208 point lead over the 2nd place Nitrochondriac team. During qualifying on Friday, Spirit Of Texas ran an impressive 3.467 @ 262.238 MPH to take the number one spot and also put a leg on the MPH record. The team was able to hold onto that position going into Sunday’s eliminations. With an uneven number of boats in the class, the number one qualifier received a bye in the first round on Sunday, and that earned the 100 points needed to secure the 2014 World Championship! Owner David Kirkland elected to make the first round bye run on Sunday to test some new parts. Scotty went out and made a half track pass to get the data they wanted. Second round had Spirit Of Texas paired with Problem Child and as always it was a great side-by-side race between the rivals. SOT’s 3.550 @ 255.363 took the win over PC’s 3.580 @ 253.464. Now onto the final – Spirit of Texas and Nitrochondriac. Number one and two in points. This was going to be a great drag race! Scotty had a terrific .042 light and was on a great run when the engine failed and a huge fireball trailed the boat through the finish, slowing to 3.675 @ 216.450. Just as Nitrochondriac was gaining on Scotty, their boat also caught fire and slowed to a 3.794 @ 228.033. The win was the perfect way to end this dream season for the Spirit of Texas team. David, Dewana, Scotty and the Fuel Monkeys won six of nine races this season, recorded their career best ET and MPH multiple times, as well as two legs on the MPH record, and the fastest pass in Top Fuel Hydro history at 265.299! It was a successful season to say the least. This is the first LODBRS World Championship for the Spirit of Texas Top Fuel Hydro team, and also their first World Finals trophy.

DKR launches new website

 

David Kirkland Racing is launching a new updated website to better showcase its performance boat and car racing crews. In addition to the new look, The new website will allow us to better stay in touch with our fans utilizing the follow features:

• The new website will be updated with any news as it becomes available via our news page. This will include our race results.
• The gallery section of our page will updated with new pictures and videos from our races.
• The schedule section will list the events our team will attend
• The sponsors page will display all current team sponsors
